The Oversupply of Pinoy Nurses

Nursing. One of the “in-demand”courses in the country. Because of the increased demand of nurses all over the globe, most especially in US, UK, Middle East and other Asian countries, more Filipinos are attracted to take up Nursing. Aiming to live in “greener pastures”, they took up nursing because of the bright future this course could bring someday. But, is this applicable for all?

Majority of our Filipino Nurses have not been that lucky in their quest for greener pasture and overall success in their chosen field of specialization. Latest statistics showed that of the 70,000 nursing graduates who passed the Nursing Board Exams in 2007, half of them are still unemployed. Today, an estimated 150,000 Pinoy nurses are unemployed and under-employed, according to government sources. This is because of the continuous proliferation of Nursing Schools producing more and more graduates. Also, products of “ladderized nursing education” who are known as Practical Nurses add to the oversupply problem.

Truly, Philippine Nursing Schools are producing more graduates than the job market demands, resulting in an oversupply.

If there is truth to this report, then this is very alarming. The Philippines got too excited about the demand of nurses worldwide, that today, there are too many nurses than the healthcare institutions can handle. Our country has so many nurses that new nursing graduates are finding it hard to find jobs. The competition among nursing graduates is so stiff that local hospital can now afford to hire nurses for free.

Another proof that we have too many nurses is that the quota requirement for migrant workers in America for this year had been reached. Also, UK is starting to rely again on their local health workers. These two countries are said to be the “key destinations” of most nurses who will work abroad. The impending future of too many nurses posed a serious problem for the country that should not be ignored. It is about time for the government take action on the proliferation of many schools offering nursing courses- most of which do not even meet the criteria set by the Commission on Higher Education Standard.

The government and CHED must monitor and be strict against new nursing schools and even on courses that offer two-year Practical Nursing Program. Most foreign employers still prefer the four-year-college-degree nurses who passed the Licensure Board Exams. So why choose the two-year course then?

Nursing schools should also have strict admission requirements. Only those who qualify should be admitted to the nursing education.

Quality teachers (clinical instructors) should be employed and stringent screening of nursing students should be done because I strongly believe that to overcome the oversupply of nurses in the Philippines, quality education should be improved by way of improving the quality of educators as well as the quality of educands. This way, the population of nursing enrollees will go down and good clinical instructors will educate better a manageable number of students, making the teaching-learning process more effective.

The bottom line is, Nursing Schools must then produce skilled and competent graduates. Emphasizing more than quantity, we should focus more on producing quality nurses, and not view nursing as a surefire way out of poverty.

♥SUICIDE TIPS♥

Gusto ko nang mamatay...

Pumasok na ba sa isip nio ang pagpapakamatay??SUICIDE??? Naisip nio na ba na "sana mamatay na lng ako" o "ayaw ko nang mabuhay pa sa mundong ito"???...Dahil sa mga problemang dumadating sa ating mga buhay buhay (e.g. problema kay boypren/gelpren, problema sa pamilya, sa eskwelahan, sa pera at kung ano ano pa), minsan sumsagi sa isip natin ang ganyang bagay. Minsan iisipin natin na, gusto ko nang mamatay, mas masarap siguro sa heaven, eh pano kung sa purgatoryo ka mapunta o sa hell?? Eh di bigla mo na lang babawiin ung balak mo na magpakamatay??Ang labo.

Naalala ko tuloy ung kaklase ko nung first yr. nabalitaan kasi namin na nag-bigti xa. Na-depressed daw kasi. May Family problem kasi un. Nakakawa.

AKO??hindi pa naman sumasagi sa utak ko ang magpakamatay. Hello. Ako ba ang may hawak ng buhay ko?? Eh hindi naman. SIYA lang ang pwedeng magsabi kung kelan ako mamamatay. Pero xempre, si ID (tama ba, mejo limut ko na ung psychology nmin), umeeksena, minsan sasabihin ko na gusto ko na mamatay. Hehe. Pero wala un. eh si id un eh..mahal ko naman ang buhay ko, gusto ko pang mabuhay ng matagal. Marami pa akong gustong gawin habang ako'y nabubuhay pa dito sa mundong ibabaw.

At sa mga atat na talaga magpa-kamatay, eto ang ilang SUICIDE TIPS:

(BABALA: sa sinumang makabasa nito, hindi ko kayo pinupwersa na magpakamatay. WAG. BAd un. Bahala na lang kayo kung gusto niyo seryosohin itong post ko. Eh mukha naman hindi kaseryo-seryoso ito..ah basta..enjoy reading!!!)

Mga Dapat Tandaan Bago Mag-suicide:

1. Bago ang lahat, alamin muna ang tamang
dahilan ng pagsu-suicide. . Kung ang
problema mo ay dahil lang sa iniwan ka
ng minamahal mo, di k dapat
magpatiwakal! Hello?! Ang mundo ay
tambak ng mga tao na pwede mong mahalin
kya di ka dpat mwalan ng pagasa.

2.Ngunit kung desidido ka na sa gagawin mo
at sa tingin mo ay meron kng tamang
dahilan pra gawin ito, ang sunod mong
gagawin ay ang pagpili ng paraan nito.
Ang mga popular na paraan ay ang
pagbigti, paginom ng lason, paglaslas,
pagbaril sa sarili at pagpigil ng
hininga.(Note: 1. tandaan na maari ka pang
mabuhay pagnagkamali ka sa pagsasagawa
ng mga nabanggit, kaya pumili lamang ng
isa na hiyang sau.)
(Note: 2. Alalahaning dyahe kung
pagtitinginan ng mga tao ang mukha mo sa
ataul na muka kng dehydrated na langaw.)

3.Sumulat ng suicide note. Eto ang
exciting! dito mo pedeng sisihin lahat
ng tao, at wla clang magagawa! Sabhin mo
na di mo gustong tapusin ang iyong buhay
kaso lang badtrip silang lahat! Pero wag
ding kalimutang humingi ng tawad sa
bandang huli para mas cool.
(Note: Tandaan na importanteng gumawa
ng suicide note pra malaman ng tao na
ngsuicide ka at hndi na-murder! Sa
ganitong paraan maiiwasan ng PNP ang
pagkuha sa kalye ng kahit sinong tambay
para gawing suspect.)

4.Isulat ng maayos ang suicide note.Print. Iwasan ang bura. Lagdaan.
(Note: Ilagay ang suicide note sa
lugar kung saan madaling makita. Idikit
sa noo!)

5.Pumili ng themesong. Banggitin ang
iyong special request sa suicide note at
ibilin na patugtugin sa libing.
(Note: Iwasan ang mga kanta ng
Salbakutah! Jologs!! Dapat medyo mellow
at meaningful.. para gayahin ng iba!)

6.Planuhin ang isusuot. Isang beses k
lang mamatay kaya dapat memorable ang
get-up. Pumili ng telang di umuurong o
makati sa katawan.

7.Magpareserve ng de-kalidad na kabaong.
Maganda ang kulay na puti, mukang
komportable. Huwag magtipid.

8.Pumili na rin ng magandang pwesto sa
sementeryo. Pumili ng di masikip.
(Note: Kung ikaw ay nabibilang sa Year
of the rat, Dragon, rabbit, tiger, beef
or monster. Wag na mamili ng lilibingan
sapagkat ang mga nabibilang sa taon n ito
ay dapat i-cremate at gawing foot
powder, para gumaan ang pasok ng pera sa
mga naiwan.)

9.Itaon ang araw ng iyong pagsu-suicide
sa ung fav. no. sa calendar pra masaya!

10.Kung naplano mo na lhat-lhat, Magisip
ng mabuti at paulit-ulit! Isipin na ang
gagawin mo ay hindi kanais-nais at
lubhang makasalanan! Pero pag desidido
ka talaga...

11. @tsaka paparty ka na rin muna before ka
magpatiwakal ng may maganda ka ring
memory na iiwan sa mga friends and
family mo. gawin mo nang bongga - wag
kuripot. make sure na may mga cute na
bisita para sa mga single friends mo, ng
may nagawa ka namang kapakipakinabang
before ka nadedo. at least pag may
nagkatuluyan maalala ka nila, like ay
oo, si ano - we met the day before sya
nagsuicide. bongga yung party nun! mag
invite ka ng bands - ay nako, kung me
balak ka mag suicide, mag ipon ka na. im
sure mahal na talent fee ng Hale kung
gusto mo cla tugtog The Day You Said
Goodnight sa burol mo.

12.and oo, make sure ding masarap ang kape
sa burol a! tsaka pwe de wag na tetra
pack na juice? pwede punch na lang?

13.tapos ano, wag na bicuit-biscuit lang.
gawin mo refrigerate cake. masarap yun. better
yet, blueberry cheesecake! tapos, tuna
carbonara, nachos and garlic dip, pizza,
chicken, ano pa? don't forget the
drinks! mahaba-habng inuman to!

14.gawin mo parang fiesta, one of a kind!

15.eto, suggestion, lagyan mo ng theme -
pwedeng horror, o fantasy - imagine naka
costume mga pupunta sa burol mo? bongga
di ba!?

o ano??excited ka na mamatay???

naku. kung ako yan, wag na. magastos pala mamatay. HAHAHA

kelangan magreview para sa case presentation. kelangan ihanda ang sarili sa interview. kelangan i review ang chemistry, anatomy, RLE, PHC, at iba pang subjects from 1st yr para sa Battery test (qualification exam po un). WAaaaaaaaah. lapit na pala battery, hindi pa ako nagrereview. tsk.

♥TAG♥

It's TAG time!!!

JAuHari tagged me, so here's a top 10 list of weird facts about me (mukhang hindi naman to weird), in no particular order:

1.) paulit-ulit kong pinapatugtog ung CD ng Mojofly- NOW. Hindi ako nagsasawa. One time pa nga pi-nlay ko un ng 4 na beses. kahit na madami kaming cd un lng ung parati ko pinapatugtog.
2.) Pag nakakatulog ako ng madaling araw (between 2AM - 5AM), nagigising ako agad. Cguro 2-3 hours lng ung naitulog ko. pero pag-gising ko, hindi naman ako inaantok. Buhay na buhay pa nga eh (yan ang tinatawag na sabog)
3.) hindi po nanlalabo ang aking mga mata kahit na antagal kong nakaharap sa PC. Pinakamahabang oras na nasa harap ako ng PC ay 12 hours (from 12AM-12PM)..STRAIGHT
4.) nag-aaral lng ako one-hour before the exam/quiz. In short, mahilig ako sa cramming. Pero 2 yrs ko na ginagawa tong routine na to, sinasadya ko na nga ung gn2 eh. And the good news, sobrang nag-benefit ako sa routine ko na to :D
5.) TULALA GIRL AKO. Routine ko sa umaga pag-gising, bago umalis sa higaan, matutulala muna ako, cguro for 5-10minutes un. Minsan naman kahit kinakausap na ako hindi ako umiimik, pero alam kong may kumakausap sa akin.
6.) Nung may CP pa ako, nasisira ung plano kong hindi-magpa-load tuwing ngttxt ung isang tao (secret na kung sino). Kahit na anong pigil ko na hindi magpapaload, wala..hindi ko kc xa matiis. palibhasa kasi bihira lng un magpa-load. hehe
7.) Madalas ako magkaroon ng Mood Swings. Ung tipong malungkot tapos maya2 nakatawa ako...ganun..baliw na ata ako eh.
8.) Pag halimbawa azar ako sa isang tao, pinagbubuntunan ko ng galit ung nakikita kong bagay na nakakapag-paalala sa kanya (e.g. binubugbog ko ung stuffed toy na binigay ng friend ko tuwing asar ako sknya)
9.) Pag may dala akong Cp, maya maya tinitignan ko un, kahit naman walang nagtxt..minsan pa nga bigla ko na lng ako napapalingon sa cp ko pag bigla un umilaw, kahit na busy ako.
10.) I myself is WEIRD. Un un eh...hehehe

ayan...di naman yan maxadong weird.....hehehehehe...o baka kelangan ko nang magpatingin sa isang espesyalista haha...di naman cguro :P

♥this must be a happy day♥

Yeah. alam ko, feb 14 ngaun, so HAPPY VALENTINES!!! Pero, hindi ko ito-topic ang valentines ngaun d2 sa post ko. Sounds bitter neh?? no. Eh sa wala naman ako maikekwento dabah??? Hehe, flowers, chocolates, cake, letters, and everything ay nagkalat sa kung saan. wala naman nagbigay, except kay donna na nagbigay ng letter and a heart shaped candy (thanks). Hindi din kasi uso skin ang mga kaeklatan ng araw ng mga puso...there's nothing special naman this day except for the birthdays. Hehe. Birthday kasi ngaun ni ZOm8 angelo at sa friday, birthday naman ni Kuya elmo. So i want to grab this opportunity na ifeature sila ngaun d2 sa blog ko..hehe!!!

First celebrant: ANGELO A. TORIO, 16 yrs old. My Zom8 (soulmate). Dahil dito sa batang ito baka makasuhan ako ng pedophile..hehe joke!!!Di noh..di noh. He's a very good friend of mine. Ang pagkakaalala ko, feb 7 2004 ko xa unang nakausap, so bale three years na rin kami nito magkakilala. For me, itong taong to ay isa sa mga pinagpalang nilalang na nakasalo ng halos lahat ng talentong pinaulan ni Lord. Bakit?? Panu naman, he's very smart (laging nasa top of the class), a math genius (99 grade sa math), magaling magdrawing, magaling sumayaw (asteeegin!), magaling tumugtog ng gitara, magaling din toh umarte..haaay!! Hindi naman xa maxado talented noh??? Pero may isa din xang talent na kakaiba, lapitin xa ng mga babae!! (nyahaha talent ba un?). No doubt na maraming nagkakagusto sa kanya. Hayuup talaga toh pagdating sa math, naalala ko nga pinasagutan ko sa kanya ung workbook ko sa algebra aba akalain mo hindi man lng gumamit ng lapis, deretsong bolpen agad at partida walang erasures!!He's also a gentleman, may sense of humor, mabait, sweet, bsta!! Madami na kaming kalokohan ng taong to, hindi na mabilang. Hehe. Sobrang sweet din ng taong to, i remember pa nga nung one time na sobrang down na down ako nun kasi matagal na kaming hindi nagkikita ng buddy JC ko, bigla xa lumapit at kinomfort ako, (that's what friends are for)and he even said na "gusto mo ako muna bestfriend mo for the mean time?"..aww...ang sweet nia.

Bakit Zom8 tawagan namin? Ewan ko nga eh, bigla na lng naging ganyan, actually dati ang tawag nia sa akin ay pagirlfriend at tawag ko sa kanya ay paboyfriend (nauso kasi un nung panahon ng marinara sa gma 7). Tapos bigla na lng nging Soulmate kasi everytime na mag-oonline xa, eksaktong naka-online din ako. At lagi xa nagpapasalamat sa akin kasi sa tuwing nkaonline kami, tinutulungan ko xa sa mga projects nia. Hehe. bsta, coincidence naman ung pagkakaonline namin nun. Aun. Then lumaon, naging Zom8 kasi wala lng, gusto lng namin magpa-kyut. Tska maxadong mahaba ung soulmate. hehe.

Term of endearment lng namin yan, walang namagitan sa amin. hehe. Bata pa yan noh...pero aaminin ko crush ko c angelo, i really admire him. (crush is simply admiration for me...maxado na ata defensive). Sayang talaga mas bata pa xa skin LOL. Naku, i'm so blessed i have him as my friend. Thankful ako kay lord kasi pinakilala nia c Angelo skin. And thankful din ako kasi ok ung relationship namin, never pa kami nag-away nian promise. Aun, u won't regret having like angelo as ur friend!!!

Angelo, if you're reading this, sana malaman mo na sobrang special ka sa akin, i'm very thankful na nakilala kita, and i hope our friendship will stay forever..Alabshue zom8!!!

Actually sa Feb 16 pa birthday nito, pero isasabay ko na din kasi wala lng hehehe...Siya nga pala ang aming kuya na si KUYA ELMOw (kuya elmer). Pero sa ngaun ang tawag ko sa kaya ay anak, kasi panu ba naman eh inay ang tawag sa akin!! oh well, c kuya elmo, xa ang aking number one inspiration. Idol ko po yan. He taught us so many things and lessons in life, a good teacher and trainor (tama ba spelling?). Sa kanya namin natutunan ang mga dance steps at tambourine patterns. Isa din xa sa mga nagmulat sa akin with regards sa mga life's problems, trials, challenges. I consider him as my mentor. Ang dami niang itinuro sa akin, he's been my guide for three years. Dahil sa kanya, nagbago ako, naging mature ako at lumawak ung outlook ko sa buhay. Thankful kami kasi sinasama nia kami sa mga outreaches kung saan marami kaming natutunan. Because of him, nag-grow kami in terms of relationship with our Lord. Were very blessed to have our kuya elmo in our lives.

Madami na itong naikwento sa amin, at nagpapasalamat ako sa kanya kasi isa ako sa kanyang pinagkatiwalaan sa mga secrets nia. Pati na rin sa responsibilities na inentrust nia sa akin. Also, open din xa smin, tska madali xang lapitan at hingian ng payo tuwing may problema kami. I'm very thankful to have a kuya elmo sa aming tabi. naku pag eto nawalay sa amin, magagalit ako!!! Ayaw ko ata mawalay sa anak ko noh!! hehehe

Anak, kung binabasa mo to, nagpapasalamat ako kay lord kasi pinakilala ka nia sa amin, were very sorry kung madalas eh pasaway kami pero sana malaman mo na special ka sa amin..we pray for your health..nawa successful ung operation mo..bsta...we love you poh!!

i think this is long enough na. Bsta. Those two persons i mentioned, sobrang mahalaga sila sa akin. Cguro hindi ko alam kung anong gagawin ko kung mawawala sila...andrama ko noh pero totoo un..
